Not all forms of ionized water are identical. Oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) is an index of the potential for bonding with activated oxygen or in other words, the reduction or anti-oxidation potential. Kangen water has a negative ORP, while acidic water has a positive ORP.
Simply put, a negative ORP indicates reducing or anti-oxidant properties, while a
positive ORP indicates acidic or oxidizing properties, it also means rusting, aging. The greater the absolute value of the ORP, the greater the ability of the substance to oxidize or reduce other substances. All types of water sold in convenient stores and supermarkets have positive ORP values. On the other hand, kangen water with a pH of 8.0-9.5 has an ORP value of -250mV to -400mV. This is the type of water that offers health benefits.
"Potential" refers to the magnitude of energy to bring about a chemical reaction. |
